The SQUASH FLOWER: delicate and tasty

Squash flowers with baby summer squash attached.

Chris is definitely a dedicated farmer. He is up early and picking the lovely squash flowers by 5:30 am. This delicacy is highly perishable and must be used soon after harvesting. Picking them early in the morning, when they are just opening, ensures optimal longevity. There are a variety of ways to use the squash flowers: the most popular being stuffed with a variety of ingredients and then pan fried in batter.

The early bird gets the squash flower!
