Good Morning Everyone!

The vibrant Swiss Chard

The vibrant Swiss Chard

Aahhhh. The past week of rain has been very refreshing for us farmers and our crops. The established plantings such as the peas and greens are gathering fresh vigour while the younger crops like beans and cucumbers appreciate the warm moist soil for their roots to travel in anticipation of the sunny hot weather.  And the farmers….well, we have rain gear and laundry facilities.

This past week must have been farmer appreciation week or something. You, our customers, have treated us very well.  We send out many thanks for the wonderful baked, canned and botanical goodies we have received from you!

Available at our Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday farm stand this week:

                   Cabbage – blushing beauties
Garlic Scapes- curly cues packed with garlic flavour and great for pesto
Spring Garlic– for a milder garlic experience
                   Kale-  from tuscan to rainbow
                   Lettuce– gourmet heirloom heads
Swiss chard– a new variety to me, aptly named Aurora like the northern light show
                   Fennel-young and tender
Baby carrots– first of the season… limited
                   Brocolli
                   Peas– snow and snap
Rapini– those who know it, love it
                   Gai Lan– ditto
Collard Greens: our newly loved green
                   Spinach
                   Boc Choi
and some herbs, edible flowers and other random things I forgot to add to the list
   See you soon
