Organic Farm Stand and Winter Luxury

DSC_0160Hello Everyone,

What a lovely week it has been!  As I have mentioned in the past, we enjoy growing interesting and delicious squash varieties here at One Love Farm. For the next few weeks, we will feature a new type. Our choice for this week is the  Winter Luxury.  This heirloom favourite, with a twisted stalk and delicate netting over  pale orange skin,  has a rustic elegance unmatched by any other. Beauty aside, this pumpkin is a number one choice for pie-making. It has  creamy flesh with a deep, rich flavour.   Compared to some of those thick-skinned squash, however, the Winter Luxury has a relatively shorter shelf life. Picked and cured now, it will be perfect timing for that Thanksgiving dessert!

It sure has been a nail-biter the past couple of weeks and I want to thank everyone who voted for us in the We Heart Local Awards. The top fives are battling it out in the speed voting round at this very moment. Good Luck to all of you!

Available at our farm stand on Tuesday and Friday from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday at the Abbotsford Farm And Country Market from 9am to 1pm:

Unpasteurized Honey

Kale

Collard Greens

Chard

Onions

Potatoes

Parsnips

Cherry tomatoes

Squash

Red Russian Garlic

Asian Eggplant

Parsley and other herbs

Dahlia bunches

Thank-you and see you there!

Farmer Chris.
