Aaaah… Autumn is here !Don’t tell the other three,but this has always been my favourite season! The colours; the cooler temperatures; it all just makes me want to be outside! What better way to celebrate the season, and the outdoors, than to visit our pumpkin patch… well, it’s more of a pumpkin installation. Each pumpkin has been placed perfectly so, in an area where they most obviously didn’t grow, nestled amongst a border of edible flowers and towering dahlias. It’s our interpretation of the dramatic beauty of this season… and we’ve named it “Pumpkin Patch”
These ornamental carving pumpkins, however, are merely a side attraction next to our selection of edible squash, all chosen for their exquisite flavours and textures. Featured this week is the lovely
Delicata. It’s sweet, tender flesh and edible skin make it the most popular variety we grow. I like to cut it into rings, coat with a little oil, season with a sprinkle of chilli or cumin, and roast in the oven. The result is a delicious and nutritious finger-food!
